2019 was a big year! I pursued my Accelerated MBA through the Smith School of Business at Queens University while working full-time 😅🎉. It was an intense, stressful, challenging and an all-round incredible experience!! Through the support of my family, Vancouver AMBA team and incredible work family at Arc’teryx, proud to say we got it done 🙌💪. Thank you to @gameplancanada for supporting my academic goals and all of our athletes in their pursuits during life after sport 👏💛 January has been a great time to reset, enjoy some free time and map out some big goals for 2020. 🤗 Also looking forward you official convocation in May! 👀👩🏻🎓
Last week I had the opportunity to be part of the inaugural UBC Athletics Women's Leadership Series along with panelists Erica McGuinness, Kelsey Blair, Carey Dillen and moderator Haleigh Callison. We shared stories about many topics close to my heart, including the impact sport has on building skills that transfer to the business world. Thanks to everyone who came and supported, and to Fasken and Adrian Wan for hosting!
Last weekend we celebrated my brother Brad’s wedding and “officially” welcomed Cheryl to the Broder family! Beautiful day, and such a fun wedding that I don’t have any photos of the bride and groom 😂 Congrats you two, loved being part of your special day! 💕🎉🥂
This year has been incredibly full with lots of new and challenging goals in my life, most of which have a new focus away from sport (for now). I originally had the intention of training for this run, but, well...life. So instead when race day approached and I questioned why the heck I signed up for this thing, I decided to run anyways and take a step away from the competitive mentality with which I usually approach sports to just be. Enjoy the moment, accept the inevitable pain 😂, and appreciate what my body is capable of. By no means was it easy, but it was kind of fun at the same time. #runhappy#lululemon#seawheeze2019
🌱 Feeling proud of my roots and grateful for all the incredible memories I have competing as a Spartan across different sports. My years at Claremont Secondary taught me the value of hard work, supporting my teammates and competing with heart, among many other life lessons! 💛 Thank you to all my coaches and teachers who dedicated so many hours in the gym and on the field - it is deeply appreciated, my family for supporting in every way, and my friends for all the laughs! It is an honour and a privilege to be recognized among so many notable Alumni. 🙏🙌⭐️ #foreveraspartan#claremont#walloffame#victoriabc
What a day at the RBC Race for the Kids! Amazing to see so many families out running in the 5K & 2K races together in support of oncology and mental health initiatives at @bcchf. Congrats to all participants! 🏃♀️🏃🏻♂️😎#rbcolympian#RBCRacefortheKids
Game plan. As an athlete, it was ingrained in us that this was a critical element to prepare prior to a match or competition. Without one, a successful outcome was more difficult and often relied a little more on luck or instincts. Flipping the script and heading into the career world means that I know the importance of applying the same tactics to this facet of my life. Thankfully, so do the wonderful people behind @gameplancanada, who are helping athletes build a foundation for success in life after sport, and have stepped up to support this transition.
At the beginning of January, I embarked on a new journey and goal for 2019 - completing my MBA from the Smith School of Business. Best part, I can do it from Vancouver! It’s early days, but I’m already blown away by the quality of instructors, classmates and content that encompasses the program. The team-based approach is something that feels very natural to me and I can already see how it will transfer to my career where I can directly apply my learnings!
Being back at school while juggling a full-time career will have it’s challenges, but I’m so up for it. Grateful for my work family at Arc’teryx who has been unbelievably supportive and encouraging, as well as my rock @mavhat who makes the chaos totally manageable and fun 🤗
What are you focused on for 2019 and do you have the people in place to help you accomplish it? Feeling pretty stoked on the team of rockstars I have in different corners of my life!
🇨🇦 RED MITTEN DAY!! 🇨🇦 The weather in Canada is getting colder, which means it’s time to keep your hands warm with some iconic Hudson’s Bay Red Mittens!
In celebration of National Red Mitten Day, Hudson’s Bay will DOUBLE the donation to the Canadian Olympic Foundation for every pair of 2019 Red Mittens sold (up to $50,000)
Hudson’s Bay and the Canadian Olympic Foundation have been a huge support throughout my Olympic journey and I’m extremely grateful! Thank you to them and to those of you who choose to support Canadian Athletes 🙏
